The Challenge

Citizen Impact needed to publish their website and software on a reliable infrastructure, and in a modern fashion using the latest best practices to allow additional capabilities with the growth of their startup.

CI’s challenge started from having no prior cloud experience and knowledge and being focused on the development and AI side.
They wanted their cloud solution and deployment to focus on the following topics:

  • Security – CI holds sensitive data and would like to secure both their data storage and their website.
  • Scalability – CI needed their system to perform with great response times no matter the load and number of users.
  • Resiliency – The system needed to be resilient and withstand standard errors and malfunctions that can happen to it’s servers.
  • Operability – CI wanted to keep operational overhead to a minimum and have a complete cloud solution that won’t require for them to become cloud experts.
  • Costs – Cost was a major factor to accommodate in the system’s architecture to allow it to be optimized over time.

The Solution

To achieve all these goals, Citizen Impact partnered with CloudBuzz to perform an assessment of the application, involved business processes and the development team requirements.

Taking the requirements discovered during the analysis into account, it was decided to implement the system in AWS.

  • In order to secure the website and services operations, secure cloud operations best practices were implemented and services in addition to WAF deployment and AWS GuardDuty cloud environment protection.
  • To allow scalability and resiliency, AWS Application Load Balancer was integrated in the solution which enabled to secure uptime goals set by Citizen Impact.
  • Minimum operational overhead will be maintained by utilizing managed services as much as possible.
  • By right sizing of the selected services for development team and infrastructure requirements, kept were kept in adherence to budgetary constraints.

The Results

After 2 months of works since the start of the project, Citizen Impact’s system went online meeting all of their original requirements and up-time goals.
